Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning

The world’s best-kept beauty secret, dermaplaning, is a simple exfoliation treatment that leaves your skin looking and feeling ultra smooth and intensely refreshed without any downtime or irritation.

Dermaplaning uses a sterile blade to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and fine, vellus hairs (peach fuzz), providing the perfect canvas for optimal absorption of results-driven serums and top-level results from your professional skin treatments. What’s more, dermaplaning is also a valuable grooming tool by itself, as it affords a smooth foundation for flawless makeup application!

WHAT TO EXPECT

Dermaplaning is a relaxing “treat”-ment for your skin! You will lay back while our expert aesthetician gently scrapes the surface of your skin with a sterile blade, removing dead, dull skin cells and “peach fuzz” from your face. This treatment is quite calming, and best of all, reveals silky-smooth skin without irritation or downtime.

Dermaplaning is an ideal skin-prepping treatment before undergoing chemical peels, facials, microneedling, Profound® RF microneedling or laser skin treatments because it primes the skin for optimal absorption of serums and cellular renewal.

FAQS: Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning and shaving are similar as both remove hair and dead skin cells from the face. However, this is where the similarities end. Shaving uses a razor and typically a shaving cream, whereas dermaplaning uses a single blade without any shaving cream. For women, we recommend dermaplaning over shaving because it affords a more precise and gentle process. Furthermore, the small razor used in dermaplaning allows the aesthetician to exfoliate the entire surface of the face, including the most delicate and hard-to-reach areas, without any irritation.
No, dermaplaning cannot make your hair grow back thicker or darker. Dermaplaning only removes hair at the surface of your skin; it does not touch the roots. Neither dermaplaning nor shaving can affect the thickness, color or amount of hair growth. If you are noticing an increase or decrease in hair growth, you may need to visit your primary care physician for a hormonal test or evaluation. Hormone fluctuations and other medical conditions, including stress, can all affect hair growth, but shaving and dermaplaning do not.
Dermaplaning is a simple and pleasant treatment for your skin. There’s no hard and fast rule for how frequently you should schedule this service. How frequently you dermaplane depends on the rate of your hair growth as well as your aesthetic goals. Some clients schedule dermaplaning every few weeks while others may enjoy it once a season in conjunction with another skin treatment.
